First Time Buyer Tax Credit Extended

Posted by John Landry on Friday, November 6th, 2009 at 10:04am.

It has finally happened.  Congress has extended the First Time Home Buyer Tax credit, except now it is not just for first time home buyers.  Some move up buyers will also qualify.  If a buyer has sold or is about to sell a home they have used as a primary residence for 5 consecutive years during the last 8 years they can receive a $6,500 refundable tax credit.  The income limits have changed as well.  The income limits will be $125,000 for singles and $225,000 for married people.  There is now a purchase price limit of $800,000. In order to qualify homes must be under contract by April 30th 2010 and close by July 1st 2010.  If you thought you missed out on the current credit do not sit still because this one will be gone before you know it.
