Phoenix Real Estate by Area

Searching for a home, condo or land in Phoenix can be a daunting task.  Geographically, phoenix is a very large city. In an effort to help our visitors narrow down their property search we have set up predefined searches based on the boundaries of the Urban villages created by the Phoenix Planning Department.  If you would like to see a map showing the boundaries of the 15 Urban Villages scroll down to the bottom of this page or click this link for a pop up of the Urban Villages Map

Ahwatukee Foothills

The Ahwatukee Foothills Village is composed of master-planned communities with desert landscaping, golf courses and lakes. The presence of South Mountain provides numerous washes and trails for hiking, biking, walking and jogging. These amenities attract residents who value nature's beauty and enjoy an active family life.

Alhambra

Residents of Alhambra Village are especially able to take advantage of downtown employment, entertainment and cultural resources. The village is characterized by mature, stable, single-family home neighborhoods. The historic district boasts a collection of well-preserved houses built primarily in the 1920s and 1930s.

Camelback East

Camelback East has two primary cores: the 24th Street and Camelback Road core and the 44th Street and Van Buren Avenue core. The village offers a range of housing diversity and neighborhood types with a major portion of the housing stock built between 1950 and 1970.

Central City

Central City is unique among the villages because its core is downtown, the urban center for the entire city. Downtown Phoenix, with its many government, business and cultural facilities is the focal point of the expanding metropolitan region. Many of the oldest neighborhoods in Phoenix surround the downtown. Some are designated historic districts and contain fine architecture and tree-lined streets.

Deer Valley

Deer Valley Village, characterized by its desert setting and mountains, is a vibrant, growing community. It is distinguished by its attraction for business and residential development. The Deer Valley Village has considerable zoned and developed industrial land, which will satisfy basic employment needs. Additionally, the village is an active area of the city for the construction of single-family detached homes and development of commercial uses.

Desert View

This village is distinguished by its lush Sonoran Desert, including the major features of Cave Creek Wash, Union Hills and the unnamed mountain range. The village spans the range of urban to rural land uses with a core that is home to major employers. Cave Buttes Recreational Area and Reach 11 are areas of permanent open space that are manmade. An extensive system of trails, both in washes and along roadways, provide a village-wide recreational circulation system.

Encanto

The core of Encanto Village is the Park Central Shopping Center and surrounding mid-density area. The core also contains a portion of the Central Avenue Corridor where commercial, high-rise office and high-rise residential development co-exist. An Art Walk links the Heard Museum, Phoenix Arts Museum and Phoenix Theater, Central Library and Cancer Survivors Park.

Estrella

The Estrella Village has had the greatest population growth since the 2000 census, based on home sales through 2006. This village closely meets the goal of the General Plan to provide housing, jobs, commercial development, recreation, transportation, and other urban amenities.  In the southwest part of the village the transition from agricultural uses to residential and commercial has benefited from the perspective of the Estrella Village Planning Committee, resulting in trail circulation, beautiful streetscapes, and attractive architectural detailing on commercial development.

Laveen

Located in the southwest valley, Laveen is a place unique in both natural beauty and agricultural heritage. Nestled between South Mountain and the Salt River, the area has long been valued by farmers, equestrians, and those looking for solitude and mountain access. As development pressures increase throughout the valley and city leaders continue to focus on infill of properties near central Phoenix, the area's proximity to downtown and access to the future South Mountain Loop will bring these pressures to bear on Laveen.

Maryvale

Maryvale Village contains many planned neighborhoods built from the beginning of the post-war housing boom onward. Today, the village retains a wide variety of housing and neighborhoods ranging from the older homes to recent growth with new single-family subdivisions. The core contains a variety of land uses and activities, and a major league baseball spring training stadium is located at 51st Avenue and Indian School Road.

North Gateway

The North Gateway Village strives to offer a high quality regional employment center and diverse residential communities, which both integrates with and preserves the natural desert environment. This area is composed of master-planned communities and natural amenities such as the Skunk Creek Wash and Bronco Butte. The North Black Canyon Corridor and the North Gateway Village Core are two prominent areas within the village.

North Mountain

North Mountain Village contains a wide variety of neighborhoods from traditional central corridor areas and neighborhoods in the foothills of Phoenix Mountains to suburban neighborhoods near the Metrocenter village primary core. The Phoenix Mountains Preserve, Cave Creek Recreation Area and Arizona State University West Campus are major features of the village.

Paradise Valley

This village is noted for its open space character created by the surrounding mountains, Indian Bend Wash greenbelt and trail systems. The village core, Paradise Valley Mall and surrounding area, provide a successful blend of shopping, housing and employment. This regional mall attracts shoppers from throughout the Valley. The surrounding Phoenix Mountains, part of the city of Phoenix Mountains Preserve system, provide the area residents with biking, equestrian and hiking trails, as well as picnicking and other recreational opportunities within a natural Sonoran Desert environment.

Rio Vista

The Rio Vista Village is generally bounded by the Table Mesa Road alignment on the north, Interstate 17 on the east, an irregular area on the south bounded by Desert Hills Drive, Pyramid Peak Parkway and Carefree Highway, and New River Road and the 75th Avenue alignment on the west. The Rio Vista Village, meaning river view, is predominately undeveloped with the exception of the Anthem Commerce Park, Anthem Outlets and Anthem West, a single family residential community. New River Wash and the lush Sonoran Desert landscape offer numerous open space and recreational possibilities throughout the village.

South Mountain

From the ridge line of South Mountain Park Preserve (the largest municipal park in the country) to farm fields, urban neighborhoods and historic landmarks, the village offers many different living environments. The village is convenient to downtown, the airport and significant employment centers. South Mountain Village is established but in many ways a young developing area with an emphasis directed towards maintaining and enhancing its rural atmosphere.
